Surprising Conversations with Surprising People

"That's a terrible title. No one is going to come to that event," A colleague told Ben, the campus missionary at NYIT. The event was "Come be Uncomfortable" and the hope was to invite strangers to talk to each other about meaningful things, even spiritual things.

Angelina, a student leader, has the idea to provide halal Chinese food so Muslim studnets breaking their fast would be welcome. She was surprised that the Muslim students who came didn't even know about the food - they wanted the spiritual conversations. In a room of about 30 students, at least 10 were Muslim. And everyone pressed in.

The student leaders at NYIT are building bridges with the Muslim community, finding connection, and opening up safe spaces for spiritual conversations. Praise God - would you pray for more open doors for the gospel at NYIT?
